Lean In (2013) by Sheryl Sandberg

10 February 2016

I've wanted to read this book for a while, because I really appreciate books that give interpersonal perspectives relating to communication and ambition, especially within the tech sector. Sheryl Sandberg became a very visible and important face within Facebook, and I wanted to learn what her thoughts were about career growth and the impact/struggles of women within the workforce today. Personally I liked the pragmatism behind the discussion, identifying what has been working and what hasn't for equality in today's corporate world.

I don't think it's a perfect book for everyone, but I really appreciated the perspective she offered, and I think it's one that it'd be helpful for many people (men and women) to pay attention to it. Probably the important takeaway is that there's still a long way to go for better representation of women in the workforce (and in upper management roles), and all sides need to make a conscious and responsible effort to make it happen. 5/5
