On the flight back from Austin I watched A Quiet Place (2018), directed and starring John Krasinski. Set it rural America, it's about a family trying to keep quiet to avoid getting killed by creatures attracted to noise.
I know it's pedantic to mention this, but you have to accept three things in this story: first, that for some reason with all the advanced weaponry in the world no one's able to take out these creatures; second, that the military/etc. should've been able to put the beasts into a nice noisy room and eliminate them. And third, that they shouldn't have been living in "a quiet place" to begin with (halfway through the film Krasinski's character shows his son where they should've stayed. But it'd likely have made for a less interesting story. I The movie's called "A Quiet Place", not "A Place for Getting By").
With that out of the way, for horror it's pretty good. While not a fan of jump scare tactics (and there are several of these), I did really enjoy the suspense they build up here. I'm usually not a fan of horror movies with kids managing the plot, because usually they just do stupid things, which I think is lazy writing. Good news is there's a very low amount is child stupidity in this movie, probably because the monster [mostly] scares them into practicality. A little bit of this felt overly contrived, and I still don't understand the device Krasinski's character was trying to make during the movie, but it was pretty suspenseful. 8/10
