Alien (1979)

Alien (9/10): The original and the best. It builds up and tears down the crew of the Nostromo, and starts themes that split between the Alien franchise and the prequel franchise. In the sequel films the core Alien themes are corporate greed man's inhumanity to man; the prequels however turn and introspect, covering themes of self-fulfillment, religion, nihilism, life and death (spoiler I like this direction more). 9/10
