James Stewart had a solid block of films in the 50s and this was asking side a similar drama to the FBI Story (also 1959). Combine these and I suppose you'd have a weird episode of Law and Order.
The only things I have against it is that it's very long at 2h41m and while the production is pretty gripping throughout it drifts to new people or information that doesn't always have meaning to the case. While the moments of character humanity are nice, sometimes they distract. I forgive the one with Duke Ellington because of the Jazz notes in the story, but some later scenes felt unnecessary. 8/10

Tonight I watched 3 films, courtesy of Netflix: Anatomy of a Murder (with James Stewart and George C. Scott), The Rescuers Down Under, and The Rescuers. It had been some time since I saw any of them, but it was good to see them with older eyes. Especially The Rescuers - that movie's art, music and production were really impressive for their time, as the opening sequence still beautifully illustrates.
