Tonight re-watched Captain America: Civil War (2016). The Captain America franchise is one I enjoy the most of the superhero genre, probably because it's some of the less fantastical stories in the Marvel universe. I guess I usually like my shows to be realistic - or at least possibly believable - and Captain America does that by having antagonists that build off of politics or subterfuge rather than shoot-em-up take-over-the-universe plots.
Civil War was heavy-handed on the commercial aspects (with all the blatant photo-op cinematography and the cameos for Spider-Man, Black Panther and Ant-Man), and it was a longer film (2h28m), but the story carried well and the action kept the exposition and introductions from getting stale. It's still an 8/10 for me a year later, though I can see it fade a little in the future.
With Infinity War on the horizon I'm pessimistic about some of the upcoming Marvel films (though hopeful for Black Panther and the future of Spider-Man)... but hopefully Dark Tower will meet some success, and there's still some Star Wars movies to look forward to. 8/10

I said Guardians of the Galaxy is what The Avengers should've been. Well, I think Civil War is what Avengers: Age of Ultron should've been.
And it wasn't written by the writer of Alien: Resurrection, so that was a plus too. 8/10
