Tonight watched one of Akira Kurosawa's last films, Dreams (夢, 1990). Assembled as a collection of 8 scenes, they all thread together only by being recurring dreams of Kurosawa's. With short stories including a boy witnessing a fox wedding, Martin Scorcese portraying Van Gogh, and the eruption of Mt. Fuji and several nuclear reactors, this film certainly goes all over the place. While I can't recommend it for everyone, I loved the visuals and the ideas that it's built on. However, I think as a film it wasn't developed or constructed as well as many of his other films. Clunky, but ultimately endearing, especially toward the end. 7/10
