Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) is the sequel to the 2016 film of a similar name, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (8/10). This one had the same cast, including Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston, and some more prominent figures including Johnny Depp (Grindelwald) and Jude Law (Dumbledore). This kept going where the previous book left off, so it had some clunkiness in the beginning getting the human character back (Fogler), or remembering who half the characters actually were. Some of the character motivations seemed to go a little sideways as well, which I didn't care for. The CG was pretty good (they do a really good job there).

I heard it did a lot of setting the stage for the next film (and yeah it did) so closure didn't really happen in this film. I liked the first film a lot, but this one I didn't have any reason to rush to watch. It was ok for world building and character development, but intimately was a just a long stepping stone between movies, that had a mess of different things going on, making all of it confusing. 5/10
