Final Space came out of nowhere for me - it's a series about Gary Goodspeed befriending a strange alien squeak toy (that he names Mooncake), and they go on a quest to save the universe. With a bounty hunter named Avocato, an Insanity Avoidance Companion robot to "help" keep Gary from going insane (KVN), and a ship AI that denies cookies to Gary (H.U.E.), Gary travels across the galaxy trying to help Mooncake and Quinn (Gary's romantic interest), while keeping eveyone out of the grasp of Lord Commander, the villain and orchestrator of many of the problems of Season 1.
It's a comedy that can really get unexpectedly dark, which makes it worth sticking around for the season (despite the main character being rough around the edges). The humor's pretty good, although some of the more juvinile parts could've been omitted just fine. It's doesn't quite have the structure of a great series, but there's a lot of good components here that could lead the series to be better down the road. 7/10
