Flash Gordon (1980)

Flash Gordon is a really campy movie. Watching it, I could definitely tell it was a product of the 80s: when your lead character is a football star that needs his name on a T-shirt, you know this film is going places. The plot is a simple adventure story, and if you think too much about it will lead you with a lot of head-scratchers. Queen did the soundtrack, and although it's decent it's very distracting when in the movie itself.
I'm sure there's a level of charm and nostalgia that's lost to me since it's based on a comic from the 30s to an audience that's retiring nowadays, but I've seen enough films to know charm alone seldom makes a great story. 5/10. 5/10
