Horse Girl (2020)

The reason I chose to watch Horse Girl (2020) was because it was actually described as a psychological thriller - once you got past the silly title. The story's about an isolated woman named Sarah (played by Alison Brie), that starts to get visions and gaps in time that get her questioning reality.

I didn't care for it, because I didn't get the impression it ever went anywhere for a story or plot. Maybe there's a story in there you have to dig for, but while watching it I didn't really have any interest to dig. Acting was fine, but in my opinion it's easy to make things weird. There were little bits that were interesting, but they never really had clear resolution or direction: Sarah's romantic interest, the people in her visions, and her horse-riding friend all feel like half-baked ideas that fizzle out before they get clear meaning behind them. It was kinda frustrating to sit through and have very little come out of the film.

As I mentioned, there may be more in here, but I didn't want to find it. And at 104 minutes it's too long for what it is to encourage a second look. 4/10
