Ikiru (1952)

Ikiru (1952) is a story about a lifelong bureaucrat coming to terms with having terminal cancer. I found it a very moving film, and builds strongly on the main character (Takashi Shimura) and his will to be alive in his last months (Ikiru, or 生�??る, meaning "To Live"). It also is a harsh criticism of government bureaucracy, which I didn't expect, but presented itself well in this film. This is an excellent film, and I may think even more of it in the future. 9/10
