Tonight watched Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). I only saw the original earlier this year, and I liked it a lot (8/10) - I think the only thing that really, really annoyed me with the film was the amateur computer graphics used everywhere. Well this follow-up solved that issue (you can see it in the trailer), and added a fairly star-studded cast to boot (including a Sir Elton John that almost steals the show from Julianne Moore), but it didn't hold up as well as the original film.
The villain's villainous plan was actually a pretty interesting one to have, and allowed some interesting simple wrinkles to get thrown into the story. But I don't think the parts of the story was as easy to string together into the overall movie - it was like stacking crates next to each other without a lot of making a blended story: [kingsman][statesman][butterflies][skiing][plot][finale]. It's still a good watch, if only to see how this world builds out, but it's not nearly as endearing as the original was. So I highly recommend the original Kingsman... but rent the sequel if you're not a huge fan of the franchise. 6/10
