Primer (2004) is a low-budget film about two guys that accidentally discover time travel in their garage. I hadn't really heard much about it until moving out here, so maybe it was just a west coast thing. The main characters (played by Shane Carruth and David Sullivan) play it fairly straight and spew tech jargon every once in a while to help you not really get what's going on. Over top of that there's very little explanation what is going on during the film, as the writer/director (also Carruth) leaves a lot for the audience to piece together on their own.
I thought the story was interesting but the storytelling really rubbed me the wrong way. It had a documentary kinda vibe, but because it tried to be somewhat esoteric, the beginning of this 1h17m film was uncomfortably slow. By the end it was pretty interesting, but as a journey it probably would've been a more interesting read. 6/10
