Starry Eyes (2014) is a horror film about a woman that wants to become a film star... so much so that she's willing to do whatever it takes to reach that dream. It's a slow film, as all the characters are a little off: the main character has some strange masochistic behavior (pulling her hair out, screaming, being kinda creepy); her "friends" seem to throw varying levels of shade at her early in the film; the production company she auditions with acts like B movie actors hamming it up for effect(?)
It was eh. I think the story was fine, but the characters really didn't sell it for me. They either were cold, distant or plain weird enough that they were unrelatable, enough so that what happened to them on screen didn't resonate at all to me. It wasn't worthless to see free off of Prime Video, but I don't need to see it again. Sounds like some people like it, but I'm not in that group. 4/10
