Stray Dog (1949) is a Kurosawa crime film, with actors Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura. It's a story about a rookie homicide cop who gets his gun stolen, then feels responsible as it's traded to a criminal. It's a solid drama, with a story that may go on a little longer than it needs to (2h2m), but with great acting from two of Kurosawa's most iconic actors - and before most of his better known films took root. Aside from the story having the occasional lull, I also got the impression that Mifune was underused, especially since he'd be in so many Kurosawa films in the future. 7/10
