Tonight I watched The Brood (1979) by David Cronenberg, starring Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar. This preceded Chronenberg's other notable successes (Scanners in 1981, Videodrome in 1983) and was also the debut of Howard Shore's film scoring debut (which was weird to learn).
This is a horror style I like - a lot of horror nowadays has heavy darkness or shock tactics that are overused and overproduced. But its raw material mixed with a classical style make it a movie that works really well. Favorably reviewed, but potentially even higher in the future. 8/10
