The Dark Crystal (1982)

11 May 2016

The Dark Crystal was a film I remember my school playing as part of an after school event. I remember ignoring it after a while because it was kinda boring.
Don't get me wrong: the world-building is really good, and the visuals are ambitious for their time. But after watching it this week, I found it was still a pretty boring film: the main character literally stumbles his way through it.
It's one of those trickier films to evaluate: I don't think it's good enough for me to keep or really recommend (worth an attempt to watch, by Labyrinth is a better film), but I find the technical achievements (and that this has a lot of behind-the-scenes material) may make it worth hanging onto anyway. 6/10
