The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

24 January 2017

I watched the remaining Hobbit films: So in total, An Unexpected Journey (6/10), The Desolation of Smaug (7/10) and The Battle of the Five Armies (8/10). Overall I think it's a stronger series than LotR was, even though way back I reviewed that trilogy [in order] as 8/10/6 out of 10. I think they're a lot to be said about a series that can get progressively better as it continues - I thought the final film especially ended strong, and I appreciated that it didn't sputter out like LotR did. I still don't think Peter Jackson is a great director by any means, and I'd still likely recommend the book over the films, but I'm glad the Hobbit series did a decent job bringing the source material to film. 8/10
