The Platform (2019)

22 March 2020

This film is about a vertical prison that has a hole in the middle used for providing food. Every day a platform goes down providing a meal for a few minutes, so when you're close to the top you have a cuisine, but the lower you go the more you're stuck with scraps.

This film isn't for the faint of heart, and it has a gruesomeness to it that's a little heavy-handed (though you could argue it's justified). Some plot points don't make a lot of sense either if you think about it, but if you turn off over-analyzing it's an interesting story that's also very, very reminiscent of Cube (1997). Personally I think this film does a better job, as Cube tries to be clever and explain itself more, which ultimately doesn't matter in that film. 7/10
