Coworker mentioned a horror movie called The Terrifier (2016) that was on Netflix. I said I'd give it a watch.
I'm generally not a fan of the Slasher style of movies - gratuitous blood and gore wear itself down after a while, and 90 minutes of it is hard to sit through. However, although I don't care for it I can still appreciate it. The story is about Art the Clown going on a murdering streak with a trash bag of nasty weapons in tow.
As far as this style of film went it really wasn't bad - although some characters were genuinely stupid at times (call the police when you have a problem, people), and some scenes were overly and needlessly embellished at times (90 minutes felt too long for this to be honest), the villain was definitely one of the creepier things I've seen in a while. So generally good acting, and cinematography was pretty good through most of the film - generally above average production values for the most part. If you have the stomach for a slasher film and you want something modern, this one was pretty alright. Not planning to rewatch it any time soon though, because I prefer the psychological thrillers much, much more than this. 7/10
