In this film lawyer Billy Halleck (Robert John Burke) is cursed by an old gypsy man to lose weight.
For the most part the film's follows (an in a few ways improved from) the book. However, I did not like this movie at all. I hated most of the characters, as they all felt like melodramatic, horrible people that you never felt any investment toward. Halleck's weight loss is something that happens, and as the viewer you aren't given a reason to care. The gypsies are as obnoxious and cruel as the town citizens. Joe Mantegna as Ginelli was probably the only exception, but didn't get enough screen time to help this film. As a tale, it always felt like something that could've delivered better as a short story - its 1h33m runtime was unbearable. 4/10. 4/10
