X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

26 May 2016

Alright, let's talk about the most recent X-Men film.
As X-Men films go, this is another of them. It was nearly 2h30m film, which was kinda rough at times, but it did have a great scene with Quicksilver and the Eurythmics. Otherwise, the characters stayed to their caricatures: McAvoy remained the beacon of home, Fassbender the emotional pendulum, and Lawrence the rebel of everything. Change villains, rinse, and repeat.
It's not cinematic greatness, but it's entertainment. And hey, even Cyclops has an active role in this film for a change. Don't expect anything great like First Class (8/10), but it's on par with the franchise (Days of Future Past: 6/10; Apocalypse: 6/10).
I think this Honest Trailer review said it best (you can apply a lot of its content to Apocalypse too):
