The Conjuring (2013)

In my opinion The Conjuring (2013) does a lot right as a horror film. It's in the horror subgenre of paranormal investigators clensing a house from the supernatural, but I think it builds up well. It doesn't lay the plot on thick like I thought Poltergeist (1982) did, nor does it let the plot fly off the rails like The Reaping (2007). It reminded me a lot of a more updated, less confining version of the Exorcist. The horror genre's not great nowadays, but I think this will end up being one of the great horror films of this decade. 10/10
